Half Marathon
April 5, 2014 I completed a goal I have had for about 3 years now. About 3 years ago I started training for a half marathon. With only 6 weeks until the race, I did something to my I.T. band and could hardly walk for a few days. I couldn't run for several weeks. Even when I could run at about mile 3 I would again start feeling pain on the outside of my knee. So, I gave up my goal for that years half marathon. Well, I couldn't do it last year because I was 7 months pregnant with Hailey. This year I was determined to do it. My good friend Cristy decided to do it with me too. We would do long runs together which helped those not be quite so boring. So, on April 5 we went to the Bentonville square to start what we had worked so hard training for. It was a cold morning that morning. Not what you'd expect for Arkansas in April. It was tough to get warmed up but felt nice once you did. There were 4 or us girls running together. Here we are before the race filled with excitement:
Mile 9 was the hardest but we pushed through. The course here has mile 12 up a killer hill. It even has a name- "THE Hill". It was a beast but I got some sort of energy and busted up that thing. I finished in 2 hours 5 minutes. My goal was at least 10 minute miles and I averaged 9 1/2. It was awesome! Great accomplishment. I will probably do another one at some point but I would also like to try something new now...Thinking Triathalons!!

Awesome job! Maybe one of these years...
Congratulations! That's awesome. I just did my first half this year too. I thought about triathlons, but I'm a terrible swimmer. You could totally rock it though.
