On Monday, Mitch and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary. I can't believe it has already been 3 years. It just feels like life has always been like this. I can't imagine myself without this wonderful man I got lucky marrying. On his birthday I wrote about our first date. Well, since it's our anniversary I thought it would be fitting to write about how he proposed to me...A few days before he actually proposed, Mitch had his friend Dave come over to my apartment with him whining about liking a girl but afraid to ask her out. So, Mitch and I encouraged (of course if was played up by Mitch) Dave to ask her out. We planned the perfect date for that Saturday for them (or for us, I would later find out).
So, Saturday come and things went as we had planned. We got dinner at Subway and took it out to Egen Lake. It is a lake that is out by the sand dunes here in Rexburg. It is only knee deep throughout the whole lake so you can walk across. So, we had a nice little picnic on the beach. After, we went metal detecting. Mitch had gotten a metal detector from DI and somehow we had another one. Dave and his date separated from us and we bother went off to see who could find the best thing. Here we were going along. We first digged up some pop cans. Then we came to another spot. Mitch started digging and we have found some nuts and bolts (put there by Mitch to make sure the ring would go off). Then he pulls out a plastic bag with a ring box in it. I just started laughing. Mitch says, "Carrie, will you marry me?" He placed the ring on my finger and I just kept laughing. After hugging, he looked at me again because I still hadn't said yes. After realizing that, I finally got "Yes" out in between laughs. What I thought was a date for Dave, ended up being a proposal. After we left the lakes, we went to Rexburg and got snow cones and watched a movie on Mitch's computer in the park. It was a very memorable day.
These three years have had difficulty, like any healthy marriage, but we have worked through it becoming a stronger and happier marriage. I love you Mitch. Thank you for choosing me. I couldn't be happier.
