Thursday it is

Today I had my 39 week appointment with my doctor. Things were about the same...still dilated to only a 2. It's been this way for 2 weeks now. But, today was different. When they took my blood pressure, the nurse responds, "That's high for you." And takes it again. A little lower the second time but still higher than normal. So, I go through the normal checkup procedure of peeing in a cup, etc. Then the doctor comes in (unusually faster than normal). He measures, checks for head down, intently checks heart rate, and checks for dilation. As we sit up he says, "Let's get you dressed and we'll talk." This of course is not normal because usually everything is fine. So about 5 minutes later, my doc comes back obviously concerned. He asks if my blood pressure went up at the end of my first pregnancy. It had not. He started expressing concern that my blood pressure had risen and also they had found more protein in the urine. I guess these are two warning signs of preeclampsia. As we talked, I also mentioned that for about 2 weeks I had constant swelling in my legs, feet, and hands...another sign for preeclampsia. So, seeing the worry on his face, they talked about rest, but let's be serious, how much rest could I get with a 2 year old. So then when he mentioned induction, I thought this was find because it's so close now. He called the hospital and set up an induction at 6 a.m. Thursday, March 3. So, we're getting this baby out. All we want is health for him and me. Keep us in your prayers that day. But, we are actually really excited to meet this little one a little sooner than anticipated. (Maybe he'll want to arrive tomorrow or Wednesday on his own. That'd be awesome!) We'll post pics and info when we get there!.
